Our Programs and Services

Sm-Zoto Inc. has some programs and activities that are planned and tour services are for all the shanties to have their own home.

Training-Organizing Program (TOP)

The program has dual functions – Education and Training and Community Organizing. The latter is geared towards mobilizing community.

Participation through facts based, pro-people approaches; such as those that develop maintained responsibility towards goals. The formed leads to action.

The TOP staff nudges changes in the direction of sustainable development – assisting the community, build strong human, social, and physical resources. This is done via information, education and training, paralegal services, local mass struggles and organizational management.

Such services and facilities of the TOP help the urban poor communities strengthen their rights, work on their democratic demands and strengthen and broaden the scope and influence of their People’s Organization and as a contribution to the Urban Poor movement in general.

The Training and Organizing Program has (7) seven major componenets, namely:

  1. Baseline social investigation and research
  2. Education
  3. Base consolidation and expansion
  4. Campaign, advocacy and alliance-building
  5. Facts-based expansion-organizing
  6. Critical participation in the local and national elections
  7. Youth and cultural organizing

Child’s Rights Program

Child’s rights awaremess is now beng advocated and included in all of the organization’s programs, policies and projects. Daycare Centers have been set up in the relocation sites where it is right now. This is one way of affording quality early childhood education. It also involves Parents Councils in child and community development.

Primary Health Care and Integrated Reproductive Health Program

The project aims at increasing the demand for utilization and access of comprehensive RH information and services for men, women and adolescents specifically on Maternal and Child Health, Violence against Women, Family Planning, Adolescence Sexuality and Reproductive Health RTIs/HIV/ AIDS.

Also, through proper information, education and delivery of basic RH package, target urban poor communities can start off in designing their families, lives, sexuality and health in order to establish communities that are gender-responsive, healthy, child-friendly, environment-friendly, bountiful and STD/HIV/AIDS-free as envisioned by the organization.

Gender Equity Program (GEP)

The program helps men and women understand and appreciate women’s basic rights and various gender issues and problems. It attends to women victims of abuse and other forms of domestic violence, provides temporary shelter, counselling and other necessary support mechanisms.

Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Program (DRMMP)

DRRMP is a response to the increading risks from natural and human-induces disasters to which the urban poor communities are vulnerable. Climate change is worsening the impacts of these disasters. It applies the principles of human rights, child rights, women’s rights and gender responsiveness to disasters preparedness and response. The program contributes to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan of the Philippine Government.

Income Support Fund (ISF)

Navotas City faces a growing housing challenge affecting thousands of Informal Settler Families (ISFs). In 2023, the local government reported that around 7,000 families were without secure housing. Programs such as the 4PH housing initiative aim to address housing shortages but have been criticized for their limited accessibility to the poorest families.

Resettlement & Eviction Assistance (REA)

Last September 26. Samahan ng Mamamayan Zone One Tondo Inc. – Sm Zoto Inc. launched #RenewableEnergyForAll in Navotas , a project that seeks to strengthen the capacity of and collaboration within and among urban poor communities to advance renewable energy, including through the installation of a rooftop solar PV system in Tanza and the creation of a training center for people’s renewable energy.

Strengthening Community (STC)

SM ZOTO Inc., also known as Samahan ng Mamamayan-Zone One Tondo, Incorporated, is a community organization that works with urban poor families in relocation sites. They also focus on ensuring children’s rights and well-being through various programs and advocacy. Focuses on child-focused development, working to ensure every child can reach their full potential. They provide educational support, health education, skills training, and income-generating projects, particularly in deprived, excluded, and vulnerable communities.
